This may be unpopular but have the admins thought about possibly making a fantasy board (different from the writing section) where all the trolls can post their stories free reign? The petty in me would also be happy to see mods move obvious troll topics there too 🤣 I feel like we’ve gotten an inundation of fake stories just scattered in random places. I know we all say “don’t feed the trolls,” but since it seems they always get responses, they keep coming back. Idk maybe this could cut down on it somewhat?

It would probably be a good place for those who are obviously looking for online roleplaying - the "I was so bad... how would you punish me?" types. But would they use it?

Yeah the mods would have to just move them lmao.

It's funny... we were spinning fantasies this morning in main chat - just sort of throwing out scenarios and ideas. Some based on real things, but most just contrived.  I said I had shoplifted some nail polish back in HS. I wouldn't do that in real life now. But some people seem to need realism. They want to be punished for doing bad things. I wouldn't mind being spanked now for things I have gotten away with, though. That seems so much more fun than actually breaking the law as an adult.

But... off topic. Lol

I like the original idea. It wouldn't do anything about the trolls, who wouldn't use it. And I would hate to put that burden on the mods. But  the idea of spinning out a few sentences that one isn't going to take the effort to write up into a story and then have others react might be fun.

Yes! And people can talk specifically about fantasy scenarios they’d like without having to write a “story.” But man I’d just love to see some of these trolls get their callouts so they quit clogging up the main forums 🤣

Agreed! They do nothing but diminish the quality of SN. And these trolls tend to post the same drivel over and over, and OVER. 🙄

Definitely! I don't think it would help with trolling, but it might end up being a lot of fun. We have some wonderful storytellers here and it can be exciting to collaborate and share ideas.

I think that's a great idea.

Let's have the board and a rule that fantasies may only be posted there, not the main boards. All that "I did x, how would you punish me?" stuff should go there.

People who really want feedback on a real disciplinary situation tend to give the backstory and nuance. I think it's a safe assumption that people who just jump right into it without giving any backstory are fantasizing and trying to draw us all in.

And my response may be unpopular.....

The writing section is just that....it's for writing...no matter if it's a true story, a reflection, a fantasy or what have you. It's the section for writing and it's for all members.

We also have a section for role play...for posting role plays, discussing them, etc.

We do not need a section separate for fantasies or what you feel is a fantasy. They can fit in many of the other sections.

What may be a fake story to one person is not fake to another. Many in this lifestyle live through their fantasies. They may not want or cant get a real life spanking so they build fantasies. This site does not exclude these members.

Also, when it comes to trolls....we have no radar. Some we know are trolls or bots instantly and we ban them. Some take some investigating to figure out. Some are not trolls at all. They just aren't liked by the popular members.

Do I get tired of the people who post and I know they are just looking for interesting tidbits just to get their rocks off? Sure....but I'm an adult and I ignore them and move on. I'm mature enough not to bite. Those posts are not against site guidelines.

Most of what I am seeing, especially from the same 4 people who make all the reports to us day after day, is that they feel someone is a troll because they don't agree with or can't personally identify with what that person is posting. It doesn't matter if you don't like fantasy or you don't want to see "I did this, so what should my punishment be?"  It's not against site guidelines and doesn't need its own section so you don't have to see it. Be an adult...scroll by and ignore it. For those wanting to change everything...I'd say this site isn't for them.

What diminishes SN is the constant bickering and complaining and the select few members who constantly Mod and try to control things behind the scenes. Not everything here is going to be to everyone's tastes. Members need to be able to be adult enough to ignore things they can't get behind. Some members feel they need to read or comment on every single post and they don't have to. Many aren't adding a thing. They just cause an argument or spread hate.

Mods are not here to babysit, to move posts that members don't like or to constantly remind people that this is an adult site and members should be able to act like adults. We are mainly here to make sure the site guidelines and standards are kept. (Site standards may not be your standards!!)

I don’t think making suggestions for improvements to the board to garner more genuine members who will actually contribute meaningfully is “not being an adult,” but okay.

Words matter….

What is subjective about this post is who “contributes meaningfully” and what that means, and having to set markers around who is a “troll” and who isn’t (we don’t allow trolls here but we also don’t assume someone is a troll their first interaction),  the idea and follow up, seems a bit of a judgmental one, and maybe I’m mistaken a bit?

For people who want to role play or write stories we have a couple sections for that… their desires and what they want/ need out of the site does not mean they are a troll or don’t contribute in some way to SN. Their needs are just as valid, even if not understood by you.

I could tweak the sub-forum name of the role play or someone could create a public club that could be merged in the forum, to indicate faster-chat like role play scenes (if the club got over 8k posts). But again, I wouldn’t want to lump any group or people into a “troll” or “non contributor” just off the fact it doesn’t suit some people’s needs. I’m also uncomfortable with the idea of pretending I know for a fact someone’s post is “role play” and should be placed in such an area.

For many this is a first line of support they come to SN and start talking about their desires, and exploring. I imagine some people don’t even speak about it in person, and that’s ok… there is no shame in that… but how someone explores their desires, is just that. It’s not up to anyone else to prune or shun them…

Labeling people or discriminating against members of the site because of your preference is indeed childish. It would have been taken a lot better without the digs of how other people live their life thrown in.

An entity cannot be all things to all people. That is impossible. So if quality content is what a site stands for, then inclusivity is going to suffer. If inclusivity is what a site values most, then the quality is going to suffer. There is no way around this. SN has a good mix of forums to cover most of a spanko's bases, and inclusivity is what is valued most here. There has never been any mention from the site owners (that I've seen) where quality content was even mentioned. Some see this as SN's fatal shortcoming; to others, it's what makes this site great.

There used to be another adult spanking site where spanking discussions were expected to be sincere and intelligent. In fact, nothing less was tolerated. Sadly, that site closed its doors during Covid, which is unfortunate, as it was popular and well-attended. Discussions were stimulating and members shared, learned from one another, and uplifted each other in a way that made it a tight-knit community. But, that site would not have appealed to all spankos. It wasn't as diverse and tolerant as this one is.

We have an online roleplay board. But the "I was so bad, how would you punish me?" posters aren't using it.

I wonder if everyone's on the same page when it comes to defining roleplay. Personally, when I think roleplay, I think of full on acting, like people pretending to be a teacher and naughty student, or auntie disciplining the wayward nephew, or something like that. But that definition excludes people who are playing themselves but pretending to be worse behaved than they really are. "I was so bad, how would you punish me?" setups fall into the second category. That's roleplay too, but people might not think of it as such.

Officially, yes, the blurb on the writing section says any kind of writing. In practice, it seems to be used almost exclusively for spanking fiction, with the occasional true account in the mix. People tend to decide what to post where based on the precedent they see, as much, or more than, based on the official blurb at the top of the board. In my experience, people on internet forums rarely read board blurbs.

I have always considered the latter type to be a form of roleplay - similar to bratting in the main chat room, but more focused on the Top's reaction. I would use a similar technique to gauge a potential partner's suitability, too. Not everyone who posts an "I have been naughty" prompt is a troll.

I usually just scroll past these posts. I don't even find them annoying... just part of the online spanking world.

What one defines as “quality” content and what another person defines it may vastly differ. We recently had this talk about free speech and how some members wanted inclusive rights to state their opinions others disagreed with and well others thought the quality of such posting was not on mark. I’d like to promote fairness here and common sense to people. Allowing fairness and inclusiveness does not make a site suffer.

The truth spoken!

Some folks here apparently don't have to work, or if they do, they aren't doing a very good job for their employer, because they're on SN all day long, 7 days a week. Too much time on their hands could make anyone more inclined to get into trouble.

Well said, CoL. I don't always agree with the management practices of this site, but it's not my site. And I've gotten to know you well enough behind the scenes to know that you have a kind heart and good intentions.
