I'm really into old ballads like that!! I came across this on an art forum where people were talking about the Max Ernst painting of Mary spanking Jesus...someone said there was a whole history to it...I'd never heard about all that in Catechism class!! I think the best rendition is from the Scots Folk Group. I'm familiar with the Max Ernst painting but had never heard or seen anything about this. And I was an art major and went to Catholic school from 1st through Grad school! Link to comment
