Newredbottom
Just wondering if the adage hold on loosely applies to spanking? Do you think too firm of a grip diminishes impact and overall effectiveness when using a paddle? Or would you say maintaining a grip looser and allowing the paddle to basically land on its own is preferred? Link to comment
Chastener
I think of the spanking as a kind of tennis lesson, where --in most shots, particularly the service-- a slightly looser grip is preferred. When I spank by hand, for example, I loosen the wrist to allow for maximum sting, Paddling is the same thing: A slightly looser grip increases the sting. Link to comment
Chawsee
I don't hold my paddles with a loose grip, but I don't grasp them tightly, either. I guess I would best describe it as a happy-medium, where I've got a solid grip on the handle but where there's enough play in my hand to allow the paddle to adjust to the "terrain" a bit upon landing. Does that make sense? I learned long ago that a flick of the wrist increases sting, so I would say that my wrist is a little looser than my hand. I will have to pay closer attention to that, though, as it's one of those things that's good to know. 2 Link to comment
Chastener
Chawsee, I couldn't agree more. The wrist flick is imperative! Link to comment

I think you summed it up. 1 Link to comment
Spanknutt
I agree with the wrist flick and if you hold the paddle too tight you won't get that. You can get a lot more snap (velocity) with a paddle, or a cane for that matter, with a flick of the wrist at the end. 1 Link to comment
