Northwest Spanko Gathering?

Hey Friends,

@Oracle and I have been discussing the possibility of a meet-up for spankos here in the northwest of the US. We're not sure that this would be a go, so right now we're just putting out feelers to see how much interest there is, if any. Would any SN member have an interest in attending? No details have been set yet as to where it would be held, or when. That's something we'd have to decide on. Right now we're just looking at the interest level, or lack thereof, for the northwest region of the United States as a gathering point.

Guessing interest would also be impacted by time of year? Perhaps you could draw from a larger pool if travel conditions were not a concer?

Yes, of course. This detail would be seamlessly woven into the details of the meet-up. We northerners who live in mountainous regions would never require out-of-staters to navigate our treacherously icy winter roads. We're not thinking that we're going to hold this meet-up next weekend.  It will require a lot of planning, so realistically we'd be looking at this no sooner than next spring or summer.

It's cool that you could maybe wrap a trip like this into a visit with your daughter in Seattle. Let's call it a meet-up. I'm thinking of a meet-and-greet. If it's held in this area (a tourist destination), I would happily organize some recreation and sight-seeing, if that was of interest, for this region is breathtaking and in my past I was a tour guide. But we can pretty much conclude that if a group of us meets for a weekend together, spanking will naturally happen.  I'm not envisioning a big party or formal event, though. Perhaps @Oracle would also like to chime in?

While not originally from the Mid South, from a place where 32 below zero was not uncommon and the have gates at the interstate ramps to shut them down.  It is very funny to watch people here go berserk when a dusting of snow hits .  Cathie bar the door all grocery stores will be bare of eggs, bread, and milk.

While it's out of my geographical area, I applaud anyone who makes the effort to further positively connect others.  When the "fantasy" of simply being online is "confronted" by a real-life event, with real faces, personalities, and activities, life moves from being simply "potential" to "realization."  Thanks for taking the effort to push it to the next level, and I hope it turns out spectacularly!  I have to get going, as we have a munch at lunchtime today....

Ya we thought since there is not a lot of spanking stuff going on up in our neck of the woods, maybe planning our own get together would be nice. Nothing too huge. Think weekend away, socializing and meeting new people, food, games, maybe outings (I like the sightseeing idea), and of course spankings!!

As Chawsee mentioned, it's still a very early idea, but we wanted to gauge interest first.

Thoughts? Questions?

If the balance of spankers to spankees and m to f was right, I would certainly consider flying out to join in the fun. As Chawsee knows, I am part of a group here in Texas that has such spanko weekends away, and they are amazing.

Thank you for your kind words. One of my biggest spanko bucket list wishes is to meet others like me. This could be a step in the right direction, and will also help push me out of my comfort zone! 😊

Yes definitely more like a friends meet up, but like over a weekend. We're thinking a smaller group for sure. It wouldn't be as formal as an official event or anything on that scale. 🙂

Thank you @StrictGent for you all your advice and suggestions! I agree having the correct balance of spankos is paramount. It's something Jillian Keenan also impressed upon in one of her videos.

Another question: for your gatherings, how far a way are people usually coming from? I assume the location is central to yourself?

Very welcome, they are worth the effort.

As for distance, we try and make it so everyone travels roughly the same distance. Most of us live in Austin, but we rent a place 90 mins east, so the Dallas and Houston folks have a shorter trip than if they came here.

 

If you are having a weekend where people are coming in from greater distances, I might make two suggestions, based on our experiences.

First, pick a place with a decent sized airport, so that folks don't spend an entire day traveling. That's not always possible, but good to keep in mind.

Second, once the group is selected have everyone pay their share of the AirBnb immediately. Plans can change but if people understand that when they sign up they are on the hook for their share, you don't risk burdening those who do show with all the cost. A hotel is a good way to avoid this situation but then you have noise concerns... you know, in case someone happens to be naughty at some point...

You're welcome.  Both in "vanilla" groups and in our Fet groups, I have found that when one enters, or takes on the role of the group leadership or offices within a group, it can do wonders both for them individually, and of course, others.  When formally in leadership positions, it was much easier for me to be "comfortable" meeting others or even discussing more "difficult" issues, as it was part of a larger effort and I had an "obligation" to help others through their journeys.  People find it much easier to approach another who essentially are in a "role" to help them.  Then, when new blood takes over and you have become "comfortable," you can become even a more influential asset, as both the newer folks, and the new leaders often seek your insights and guidance when needed.  The initial fear, trepidation, and the like, while difficult to overcome, will lead to a much stronger person the other end.  You may well be the one sought out for guidance, wisdom, or simple validation.  You will MOST like feel out of your comfort zone, but I can guarantee you it WILL be worth it.

We would sure be interested in attending, like most depending on the location and date. We do a small party, only 12 or 14 people once a year here. If you get this going and want any help or suggestions, we would both be happy to help any way we can. For our event we rent a bnb. Those are so much better than a hotel. as people interact more and there is plenty of priivacy that hotels lack. Like was already stated, fint the cost, div ide that and have everyone pay in advance, their share. I suggest at least two days, or three, as two days can go very fast. and an extra day in a bnb if for only a few is about the same price as a hotel for 3 or 4 people, if some want to come a day early. Ours are pretty laid back no real scheduled things, people come and go and spank as they want. We have been doing ours for 4 years now. Sorry for the long responce just to say yes we would  be inerested.

It’s always great to meet like minded people and I would appreciate getting to know folks on a more personal level ( the internet can be wonderful… but has it’s limitations).  If not too far from the Portland area… that would work for me!
