Hi everyone,

This question is for people who have ever been spanked with or spank with a Tawse.

How is it different from a belt spanking or strapping?

What positions or techniques or tips would you recommend to give a hard punishment spanking with it that is as painful yet also safe as possible? Bruises, welts of course are to be expected.

thanks!

The split tip of the tawse really stings. Different lengths, thickness, and size of split make for many choices for this vicious implement.

On a bench, or bent over- it is not unwieldy when swung. I would  chose a caning over a tawsing any day. The belt is harder to swing and not twist or wrap.

ymmv.

Before it got banned there, the tawse was used quite liberally in Scottish schools and in my (observational) experience was always delivered to the hand, no matter the age of the miscreant.  Preferred items for administering to the bottom were hand or gym shoe.  Because there were strict rules on corporal punishment (at least in theory) I assume the reason for the demarcation was safety.

How is it safer to tawse the hand than the butt?

I would think hitting the hand with anything would always be more dangerous. There are bones in the hand that can get broken. There are nerves that, if damaged, would impair the use of that hand, which would be seriously disabling. There's no such risk with the bottom.

I've only read about the tawse in spanking stories, and there it's always used on the backside.  Again, only in stories but is spoken of as feared.  I've also never met anyone who as tawsed either on the hand or the behind.  Now that it has been "retired," its mythology can grow and grow.  I'm intrigued, for one... not to be an object, mind...

Bramblewine, the positioning was very deliberate and the tawse used was relatively short, thus allowing, I imagine, for greater control.  On the bottom, a longer tawse would be required, which runs the risk of it wrapping around.

I admit to being no expert.  I merely note my observations at school in Scotland some decades ago.  I think some teachers - ones who used it sparingly - used it more to make a point than to inflict pain.  It was a sign that they were disappointed in you.  Mind you, I think the worst punishment ever meted out was the afternoon before Scotland v Wales FIFA World Cup qualifier in 1977 - winner qualified for the finals.  She gave him a thousand lines, to be handed in by first thing next morning.  He begged her to just belt him (she had a fearsome reputation for swinging it) and get it over with.  She was unmoved.  My class was coming into her classroom as the previous one was leaving.  She got two sets of good behavior for the price of one.

On the bottom, couldn't a short tawse be used OTK?

I can see why they wouldn't have done that in school, but it would work well for an adult spanking scene, wouldn't it?

Agreed.  In that sense, it's like a leather paddle, but with the sting of two tails (or three if one is so inclined).
