OTK Spanker
I KNOW, OTK!! I bet Emmitt Smith felt the exact same way!!! Such a sad loss for poor Emmitt! Yes, poor Emmitt had to settle for the all time rushing record (and 3 super bowl rings). Go Cowboys! I love this time of year. Link to comment
Christy
I have to say that the New England Patroits are the team to beat this year. Tom Brady is taking them back to Superbowl. Link to comment
Ispunishmentneeded
Yes, poor Emmitt had to settle for the all time rushing record (and 3 super bowl rings). Go Cowboys! I love this time of year. Emmitt was an outstanding player - playing on a great offense, with several hall - of - fame players around him. Does emmitt deserve to be in Canton, no question about that - was he the greatest runninng back of all time - No! He is not in the same level as a Barry Sanders - Barry was the lions offense - the defense knew he was getting the ball and they still could not stop him. James Brown - not only ran the ball but blocked for himself Walter Payton - his moves had moves Just my two cents Bob Link to comment
Ispunishmentneeded
How sad he did not get to play for a good team, like the Dallas Cowboys. Last time I checked Art Monk Has THREE Super Bowl rings and a few NFL first's First player to record a touchdown reception in 15 consecutive seasons. Only player to have at least 35 receptions in 15 consecutive seasons. First and only player to record over 100 receptions (106 in 1984) in a season before NFL rules changes prior to the 1990 season that ushered in the "pass happy era". Still only three players in the next nine years collected 100 passes or more and only one (Sterling Sharpe in 1992) surpassed his total. First NFL player to reach 820 receptions in a career. First NFL player to surpass 900 career receptions, finishing career with 940 (all-time record at the time). First player to collect at least one reception in 164 consecutive games. First player to collect at least one reception in 183 consecutive games Monk received the longest standing ovation in Pro Football Hall of Fame history, lasting four minutes and four seconds I WILL STOP NOW Link to comment

Christy - The Patroits are not the team to beat this year - they will have a hang-over from last year perfect regular season and also the lost in the SuperBowl, the will probably make the playoff's but will not go deep into them. That being said the Patriots are awesome, but like the Yankess I believe they are going to have a off season. Just my two cents Bob Link to comment

Ispunishmentneeded
Tom Brady is buying super bowl tickets for the whole team? That's funny, I believe all players already get a couple tickets to the game! Sitting in the stands is the only way he will see the Super Bowl this year. Cowboys might be there but Tony still has to prove himself in the BIG GAMES, I don't blame the guy for hooking up with Jessica but this year if they get a bye in the playoff - two words for Tony "Low Profile" I would tell you who my team is and I am a die hard fan. No it is not the Lions. If I told you - I would here laughter ringing off the walls. So I will keep it a secret. Link to comment

According to Paul Brown,Jim Brown was a very poor blocker and that is the onlly fault Paul Brown ever found with Jim Brown on the field, off the field is a different story. I have an autographed copy of Paul Brown's book and have read it. Acording to Paul Brown Marion Motley was a better running back than Jim Brown. Look it up. Link to comment

That is interesting - tapes I have seen of James Brown putting some serious hits down left me thinking he was a good blocker, maybe not. I bet they are holding there breath in Boston over Tom Brady. I heard they are bringing Chris Simms in for a workout on Monday. Bob Link to comment

OTK Spanker
I am sorry to hear about Tom Brady also. I am not counting the Patriots out of anything yet. Even though I am not a fan, I have to admit they have been one of the best teams of all time over the past 7-8 years. They were not a one-man team. Brady being out would be a true test. No matter who ends up being their QB this season, others will have to step up their play. As far as Emmitt goes, no he is not the best running back of all time. Football is a TEAM sport. The blocking of offensive line and the "Moose" at FB opened the holes for Emmitt. Didn't hurt that other teams had to defense the passing game also. When given time, Aikman hardly ever made a mistake. As the offensive line started to deteriate, so did Aikman's skills. But few played with more heart and less selfishness than Emmitt. Walter Payton did and considering the length of time he was able to do it, I have to call him the best of all time. Never been a Bears fan, but I was always a Payton fan. If you can't tell, I'm a football junkie. Part of being from Texas. One last thought. Who's idea was it to put the Hall of Fame in Ohio, instead of Texas, where it belongs? Cliff Link to comment

Cliff Cliff, I am a sports junkie, and love football, I was sorry to see Brady go down but thought New England was going to have a rough year even prior to this, I thought they were going to have a hangover from last season, I heard the were going to give Chris Simms a tryout. Wonder why they don't give Culpepper a call. Unless there is really bad blood between him and Moss from the Viking days. Bob Link to comment

Brat, "I maybe only a girl" Brat - don't every under estimate yourself - you are smart, bright and have great insight! When the subject of the location came up I was thinking the same thing Paul Brown - Jim Thorpe and even Art Modell all seem to be power players in the NFL. When I was 10 or 11 I meet Paul Brown and had my picture taken with him, it was after a pre season workout, even then I knew I was in the presence of greatness. Al MIchaels and John Madden was talking on the football game the other night about Paul Brown about all the innovator he was. Very classy and a family man - as owner of the Bengals threatened to fire Sam Wyce for working late nights - Paul Brown wanted him out by 6 to go eat with his family! Brat drop me a line let me know how you are doing. Bob Link to comment
