Read this before posting constructive criticism on Moderation or Guidelines

Recommended Posts

Read this thread carefully before making a new thread or posting a reply in the Board Help and Feedback forum. Generally, all constructive criticism or suggestions should be done in this forum. Threads or posts made in different forums will be moved to the Board Help and Feedback forum or they will be addressed in their current forum if it's an issue that can be resolved in that forum.

We want to give the members of the SN community a channel to ask questions, provide feedback and make suggestions to improve our moderation and guidelines. As well as other feature requests (but those can be less formal).

Below, is a structured way for you to voice how you feel about our moderation and guidelines and provide your suggestions on how to improve them for the better of the SN community.

With this freedom comes the possibility that you might not get an answer you agree with. If that is the case, please respect our decision, even if you disagree with it.

While there is room for improving the guidelines, so that what is and isn't allowed is clearer, some guidelines aren't open for debate. I don't say this to discourage you from making a thread, but instead to warn you that sometimes the answer will just be "No" with a short explanation of why.

When making a thread, please include the following information (depending on what your thread is about):

For a specific moderation decision
1) Why you feel allowing/ not the post(s) would be better for the SN community as a whole (keeping in mind the diversity of our members).
2) Why you feel the moderation decision doesn't reflect the current guidelines.
3) Quote the post(s) or chat log in question (or paraphrase if you don't have access to them anymore).
4) Directly quote passage(s) from the current guidelines and below each passage provide your specific suggested changes to the guidelines. allow posts of this type in the future.
5) *optional* Alternatives to changing the guidelines (e.g. adding a new forum or group, limiting access, etc.).

For a general change to the guidelines
1) Why you feel allowing the guideline change would be better for the SN community as a whole (keeping in mind the diversity of our members).
2) Provide an explanation of the type of posts that are or are being allowed as a result of the guidelines.
3) Directly quote passage(s) from the current guidelines and below each passage provide your specific suggested changes to the guidelines.
5) *optional* Alternatives to changing the guidelines (e.g. adding a new forum or group, limiting access, etc.).

Please check this again every time you make a new thread in this forum as the content may change in the future.
