An Argument Against "Always"
Have you ever talked to another spanko who believed something was an absolute - bare bottom, for instance? Is there really a need for some aspect of spanking to always be present (other than some form of consent)?
As everyone knows, I am not a fan of the idea that something must be a component of every spanking - not bare bottom, not learning a lesson, not a warm-up, nothing. I love variety.
What about you? Do you have a specific always? What is it? Or, are you a fan of variety? Have you met with or talked to someone who was a stickler for certain components?

as a spanker I have a definite way that I approach sessions, including implement selection, order of implements, corner time, bare bottom, and a light-hearted but caring approach. the few times I have changed parameters havent gone well. there's reasons for all of my choices, and any given person has the option to decline a session if they dont like my One True Way.
that doesnt mean my One True Way needs to be anyone else's One True Way. good topic!

So, one thing I have really enjoyed lately is being spanked in front of someone else (obviously another consenting spanko). Does anyone else enjoy being spanked - or giving a spanking - in front of a witness? What do you like about it?
For me, I love the sense of exposure and added vulnerability that comes from having a witness.

Ive been to a few parties over the years and have witnessed several spankings. If the local group gets a party going, and I have a willing partner, seems like it would be a fun thing to check off the spanko bucket list. which reminds me rubyredd, have you already asked about the spanko bucket list? if not, can I suggest that for one of your ice breakers?

I really want to talk about the spanking meet-up I had this weekend, but there is too much to tell for a Monday morning. So, let's talk about mid-spanking behavior.
I have found that - even when I go into a spanking well-behaved and agreeable - I get a bad attitude in the middle of the spanking. Why?
Bottoms - Does anyone else react this way? It is like I become more willful as I am getting spanked.
Tops - How do you push past tantrums or any obstinance that occurs during a spanking? Have you had this happen?

yes. I think its a struggle of acceptance. the survival instinct kicks in and a certain part of you tries to re-assert herself and say HEY WE DONT REALLY WANT OR NEED THIS when in fact you do. I have found judicious use of corner time usually nips this behavior in the bud. there was one session in particular where my spanking partner decided she did NOT want to go to the corner. the only alternative was back over my knee for harder spanks. it only took a few of those before she was begging to go to the corner after all.

A little update: I've been spanked once a week for the last 3 weeks. At first, I was thinking that maybe it's a bit much, but it has turned out that it's been exactly what I've been needing. These spankings that been a bit more than just maintenance spankings, because they're more of the disciplinary type. On the 1st spanking, we pretty much were trying out a new paddle that Daddy had shipped over to me from some paddle maker...but also for me having told Daddy that he and uncle were "boys" (yeah...never doing that again!). On the 2nd and 3rd spankings, I've been paddled with uncle's holey paddle...and I'll continue to be getting a weekly paddling until I've improved in some areas here at home that need improvement on (as far as getting my place cleaned up and then maintained that way). I can say these paddlings are working because so far so good, I've been getting things done.
This is pretty much how things are going here. I am sure that my husband will be very happy with these improvements. Can't wait for him to come home! (He's been out trucking since end of June.)

What does topping from the bottom mean to you? How do you define it and how does affect a spanking session?

its a concept that shouldnt exist, not really, and especially not in this context. it suggests a Dom/sub dynamic between spanking partners, and thats a dynamic that is most definitely not required for a good spanking session (or several). case in point, I had a good thing going for awhile, giving spankings to someone identifies herself as a Domme. she was not shy about using her safewords when she felt the need, and I never felt like I was ever Dominating her (nor the reverse). but it was never in doubt who was giving the spanking and who was getting spanked and sent to the corner with pink cheeks!

If all goes well, I will be getting spanked tomorrow evening by an ER I've been calling "uncle" for a few years now. Last time I found myself over his knee was last summer in July. He arrived tonight. In fact, he is staying with my family and I for at least a couple weeks while he starts a new job here. He always said he would move here one day. I enjoy the Big/little dynamic but it doesnt have to be part of any given spanking session, at least not officially. For spanking terms I like the catchall "Spanko" or ER/ee can also work. I think being a Top with a bottom is a different relationship than strictly ER/ee and in general, with no offense intended to people who prefer those terms, I always get a giggle out of someone calling themselves a Top as to me a top is a little spinny toy. And I prefer to be called Gator or if you are inclined Sir is also acceptable.

How much sass is too much? Where do you stand on bratting?
I prefer bratting in its milder forms - clever sass, silliness, teasing or "acting up" just to get spanked. Bratting, to me, is all in good fun. It is part of my spankoness, but easily controlled and not something I share with every spanking partner.
There is a noticeable difference between bratting and real attitude (for me). Bratting is intentional / purposeful - I am trying to get spanked. Yes, I could just ask, but where is the fun in that?
Some Tops don't like bratting at all; other Tops like it in small doses. There are certainly Tops who really enjoy it.
What about EEs? Even brats have different levels of tolerance for other bratty behavior. I have a hard time playing with other brats or littles-who-brat in chat for extended silliness. That isn't really my style of bratty behavior, but it can be fun in short bursts.

I'm not a big fan of it. I prefer direct communication "I want/need a spanking." However, I did have a notable experience once of being bratted during a munch. The brat in question would not calm down until I took her outside and gave her a few quick spanks. My wife was at this event too. Its in the category of "spanko experiences I have had that sound like fiction but aren't"

I normally stay away from more serious topics, but let's talk about consent - which can take several forms in the realm of spanking. Whether consent is implied* or implicit, it has to be freely given. It is one of the foundations of adult spanking - safe, sane, and consensual (SSC).
Consent is one of the main differences between my fantasies and my reality. But, even in my fantasies, my character seems to enjoy being spanked on some level.
Do your fantasies involve non-consensual spanking? How does that differ from your reality? Do you promote a SSC spanko lifestyle?
*I use the term "implied consent," but there is also CNC (consensual non-consent) - which still involves consent.

Weekly spankings? What are those?? LOL! Yeah...an "uncle" plans on moving to my city...possibly even getting a place at same complex where I live. He made mention of the possibility of weekly spankings. Wow. I don't even know what that will be like! I'm used to the occasional spankings every 4 to 6 months. Getting spanked on a weekly basis? Let's talk about spanking wishes - things that probably wouldn't happen in real-life. What is your spanking wish / fantasy?
Mine is to throw a tiny tantrum at the grocery store (always the frozen food section, for some reason) and to get a swat or two in the store, and a little scolding or warning, before being escorted out for a much longer spanking.
